Home may be sanctuary, a place of personal identity providing a sense of belonging; a shelter for both body and soul. It may simply be one’s native land. It’s significance to humankind is profound.
My new body of work has developed from contemplating this fundamental subject while employing the recurrent symbol of the house as leitmotif. I find myself immersed in a theme that has both personal and archetypal connotations.
There is a subliminal human presence whilst the inside stories remain behind closed doors. – MW 2015
